Deciduous Woodlands

  • Deciduous:  having leaves that are shed each year at a specific season or stage of growth usually to avoid harsh weather conditions such as cold temperatures or drought.

  • Deciduous trees are also called broad-leafed trees or hardwoods.

  • Deciduous woodlands are dominated by trees and shrubs that loose their leaves each year.  The leaves on many of these trees turn shades of red, orange or yellow in the fall.
